Background
The Huntington Food Pantry at PVAG is located in the lower level of the Pioneer Valley Assembly of God Church, 63 Old Chester Rd, Huntington, MA. The purpose of our agency is to provide emergency food assistance to income eligible clients. We were first established in 1990, but stayed relatively small until 2005 when the Gateway Pantry closed their doors. We took on approximately 550 of their clients. This pantry serves the Gateway School District, which includes Montgomery, Huntington, Russell, Chester, Becket, Middlefield, Blandford and Worthington. We also accept emergency referrals from area churches or the Salvation Army. Our goal is to help the low to moderate income population. The seniors, disabled who live on fixed incomes and the working poor all benefit from our service. The majority of families with children have an absent parent. Most of them would go hungry without our help. We have never had to turn anyone away due to lack of food on our shelves.
